Why Women Should Lift


Lifting heavy for women has always been a hot topic; we as fitness professionals, hear time and time again the concerns of “I don’t want to get bulky.” Lots of women often feel intimidated by the thought of lifting heavy weights, but desire the look of a shapely, toned body. Lifting weights will not make you bulky – it will EMPOWER you.

There are plenty of reasons to choose heavier weights over cardio – not saying cardio is bad, just the two paired together creates a heck of a storm..aka a BOSS LADY who has sexier curves, lean body, confidence and empowerment…need I say more?

If you need more, here are a few other reasons to pick up the heavier weights:

  1. Shapes your curves – build strength & muscle to get the toned look. Long bouts of cardio will lower your body weight, but will create the “skinny fat” look because you are losing muscle.

  3. Boost Your Metabolic Rate / Increased calorie expenditure – more efficient at burning body fat and utilizing carbohydrates for energy throughout the day.

  4. Increased Libido – The slight elevation is testosterone levels that can be achieved via weight training will serve to enhance your sex life. (NO you are not going to get a deep voice and grow a beard…)

  6. Better heart health, blood lipids, bone density and insulin sensitivity

A lot of women do not know they have this wealth of strength & competitive drive within them, and will literally transform your life in all aspects, for the better. Weight training is incredibly liberating and I challenge you to step up to the iron.
